Abstract:
Drug-tolerant persisters (DTPs) are recognized as distinct cancer cell states with specific metabolic and redox adaptations, particularly involving iron-dependent vulnerabilities. DTPs also display a characteristic reliance on the lipid peroxidase GPX4 for protection from ferroptosis, an iron-driven, lipid peroxidation–mediated cell death. During this lecture, we will discuss how organelle iron trafficking and metabolic pathways shape DTP’s ferroptosis vulnerability and metastatic competence in the lymph node.
